Progression Frameworks

SWLLN Progression Frameworks

The South West Lifelong Learning Network developed ‘progression frameworks’ which aimed to create pathways from Level 3 learning into and through Higher Education (HE) for particular sector groups in the South West.  The Network worked with learning providers and employers to develop four progression frameworks for people in the following employment areas:

  • Emergency Rescue and Management
  • Sustainable or Heritage Construction
  • Cultural Services (Museum, Libraries, Archives and Galleries)
  • Chefs and Hospitality

Some illustrations of the proposed progression frameworks are available on the right-hand side of this page under ‘related documents’. The frameworks demonstrate the work of the Network in developing HE opportunities specifically for people with vocational qualifications and/or work-based training and experience.  It’s for this reason that they don’t, by any means, include all possible routes into and through HE in these sectors.  You won’t see A-levels mentioned, for example, although the right number of A-level points in the appropriate subjects are of course a valid entry requirement for these HE courses. The frameworks have also been developed around provision available locally in the South West and so won’t give you a national picture of HE courses for these sectors. If you are looking for more information on HE courses in these areas, please visit our HE Guidance service by clicking on ‘Learners’ in the left-hand menu.
