Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network/ nextstep

Over the past year the Devon and Cornwall Training Provider Network and nextstep (Cornwall) have been working increasingly closely together on a number of different projects with a particular focus on the delivery of a quality Information, Advice and Guidance service to people doing Apprenticeships and involved in the Train to Gain scheme via their employer.

The extension of Train to Gain, the implementation plans following the Leitch report and the LSC introducing funding for 1,000 adults for ‘Adult Apprenticeships’ all add urgency to the need for this Hub.

The combination of the network with its 59 providers and Nextstep, with its well established IAG signposting service across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset, would enable the hub to have maximum impact across the area.

Their programme for up-skilling in IAG skills  will start in April with front line staff from 7 key training providers, with a programme of HE –awareness to follow, to redress the key issue for training providers whose staff are inexperienced in motivating and advising learners on learning options above level 3.
