Heritage Access (5h)

Six new Access to Higher Education units in Heritage Studies will be available for all Further Education Colleges in the South West to deliver from September 2008. Staff from Truro College wrote the units which cover archaeology and heritage site management in Britain, researching family and community histories and museum studies. Specialist staff from City College Plymouth, Bournemouth and Poole College and the SWLLN acted as external validators for the course, which was validated by Open College Network South West Region (OCNSWR) for delivery within their framework.

The course will form part of an Access framework and will equip students with the skills to go on to Foundation degrees or Batchelor of Arts degrees relating to heritage, history, archaeology and cultural services. The South West Lifelong Learning Network funded the creation of the units, coordinated their development and provided staff for the validation team.
