Claire joined the SWLLN in November 2007 to facilitate the development of new HE courses and progression routes in the cultural services subject area. Claire has an MSc in Information and Library Management from the University of Bristol, and worked as a professional librarian in a variety of roles at the University of Bath, Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and Exeter College. She then moved to Kingston Maurward College to undertake e-learning development and work on a European Social Fund project which researched ways to use information technology to support small rural businesses across the South West. Three years in HE academic administration at Kingston Maurward followed, with a strong emphasis on course development and validation, Foundation Degrees and quality assurance. Claire has a particular interest in career change and lifelong learning, which formed her Masters research topic and is an underpinning principle in her own career. Following a Degree in Agriculture Claire worked in the agricultural industry, and then opted for a career change into librarianship in order to pursue a more people-centred career. Claire now works part-time for the SWLLN and is developing a small business in her remaining time, as well as studying part-time: the learning and development process is ongoing!
