Gregory Borne
Gregory’s work has focused on the integration of sustainable development into governance frameworks.
His PhD examined the relationship between the global and the local areas of sustainable development and he is now writing his fist book on the subject due for publication in early 2009. Further publications include a chapter contributed to the Handbook of Local Environmental Governance as well as a number of journal articles.
Gregory has worked with international, national and local government as well as nongovernmental organisations. In September 2007 Gregory received professional recognition for his work by being awarded the Chartered Environmentalist qualification from the Society for the Environment. Working for the SWLLN Gregory has contributed towards understanding the sustainable needs of the public sector and the third sector as well as contributing towards the development of a sustainable competency lexicon which will ultimately will be used as a tool for Accredited Prior Experiential Learning and also assist in making current courses more response to the needs of the public and third sector.
Gregory has contributed an article to Local Environment 14(1):93-107 called Achieving Sustainable Lifestyles or Encouraging a Counter- Reflexivity:exploring motivations for sustainability in a mediated risk society. The article explores why people behave the way they do towards the environment. There is a particular focus on what motivates people to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.
