Sheila Thomson
Sheila joined the Curriculum Development and Vocational Practice Development Unit (CVPDU) and Progression Framework teams in January 2009 to continue the development support of a Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction, in partnership with Cornwall and Weymouth Colleges and the University of Plymouth.
She brings a knowledge of both traditional (Heritage) and contemporary construction to the role as she has worked for the industry for 18 years – in a training consultancy capacity to the Construction Industry Training Board; in marketing professional and management construction career opportunities; and currently with the Recruitment and Careers Team of ConstructionSkills’ South area.
With a training, management and small business background, Sheila’s role until October will be involved in supporting validation arrangements, finalising a Progression Agreement and contributing to resource materials. Sheila’s Scottish roots have instilled a rich awareness of history, architecture and conservation that ensures a continuing interest in helping society in general and potential construction recruits to appreciate the worth of the built environment.
