SWLLN mentioned in latest UK Sustainable Development Commission Report on Breakthrough Ideas for the 21st Century

Dr Gregory Borne was invited to attend the UK's Sustainable Development Commission interactive event on Breakthrough ideas for the 21st Century. The Commissions report 'Breakthrough's for the 21 st Century makes reference to Dr Borne and the South West Lifelong Learning network which is continuing recognition of the important work being carried out with regard to sustainable communities in Devon and Cornwall.

Dr Borne, project lead said, "This was a really exciting high level event that brought together like minded people in the field of sustainable development.  Speakers included Secretary of State for Climate Change Ed Milliband and HRH the Prince of Wales.   It was made clear at the event that sustainable development has become the topic for the 21st Century in the face of increasing global risks such as  climate change.  What was also very clear was that everyone at the event recognised the complexity of the issues involved and the gravity of the challenges that need to be tackled. The work being conducted for the SWLLN is directly addressing these challenges."
